Monster taming meets metroidvania in a lively pixel-art world
Demoby Moi Rai Games
Monster Sanctuary mixes monster taming with a side-scrolling metroidvania. You name your young Monster Keeper, pick one of four spectral familiars (wolf, eagle, toad or lion) and set off on the Keeper's Trail, jumping across the pixel-art mountains and caves around the Keepers' stronghold.
Touching a wild monster starts a turn-based fight between teams of monsters: each one has its own skills, such as the wolf's Claws, Ice Hail and Air Sickle, chained hits build a combo that raises the damage, and each fight ends with a star rating. Winning earns monster eggs that you hatch to grow your team, and in the full game the monsters you tame also open new paths through the world.
The version on CrazyGames is the official demo released in November 2018, before the full game came out in 2020 on PC, Switch, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It covers the start of the adventure, with nine save slots.
